So You Want to Be a #BossBabe?
1. If you want to make fast money, you're looking in the wrong direction.
If you are looking for a little extra money RIGHT NOW. It's not the time to start a business. Building a business costs money. It is as simple as that. Do you have money that you have saved to get started? Are you willing to work a job you don't love to be able to get your own thing off the ground? Most businesses take a few years to become profitable, so don't plan on raking in the dough from your new ventures right away.
2. Are you willing to give up your lazy days?
But all of the Instagram boss babes are on a beach, aren't they? This kind of "freedom," doesn't come instantly. Think about it, if you are going to run a business you have to be willing to work when no one else wants to. If you are working and starting a business you have to sacrifice some of your "free" and "fun" time to buckle down and WORK. Also until you can afford to hire other people to work for you, YOU are the staff. If you don't get it done in the beginning no one else will. You have to put in the time before you book your next vacay.
3. If you are afraid of taking risks, it's time to face your fears.
There will always be an element of "risk" in business. You have to be willing to step outside every comfort zone and try new things. You have to be willing to meet new people, make new connections and throw yourself out there. If you enjoy feeling "stable & safe," you need to be open to taking a few leaps of faith. The only "safe" you can bet on is yourself.
4. Stop waiting around for the "perfect" opportunity.
The ideal situation is never going to appear out of thin air. There will always be obstacles you will
need to overcome and rarely do things go exactly as planned. If you keep waiting, your inspiration will run dry. If you are excited and fired up about a dream or idea, start researching, don't take NO for an answer and be ready to hustle.
Don't wait around for someone else to believe in you or help you out. That comes after YOU have made a decision to go for it! It's time to be a leader and then others may follow. Show them your vision and truly believe in your own mission.
I have done a lot of learning since starting my own business and everyday I'm looking for opportunities to grow. I lean on other entrepreneurs for advice and I value others' experiences. I wish there was a manual for all of this, but there isn't. What I can tell you is that if you are REALLY serious about starting your own business, is that you have to be willing to work hard and develop patience. Patience has been the most difficult of this entire journey thus far, but I believe in myself and I believe in what I have to offer this world as a strong female.
