Distracted by the Holidays?
It's the most wonderful time of the year, but also the most distracting! It's all beginning this weekend with Black Friday Shopping. The holidays are upon on us and it can be tough to stay organized and focused as an entrepreneur. Since we don't do our work at a desk in an office at routine times, it is very important to schedule our "To Dos".
Here are 5 tips to staying FOCUSED during the holiday season!
1. Commit to Events
Don't let "life" get in your way. If you have committed to events for your business, GO! There will always be other events the same day. Trust me, every weekend from now until New Years there are multiple events I could attend for personal and professional reasons. You can't do it all and that's okay!
2. Stay Present
While you are at these events or meetings, stay present. You already committed to this time as working time so shut off the rest. A few hours without holiday planning or Christmas shopping isn't a bad thing. Your business will take a hit if you do not devote your time and undivided attention to it during this busy time.
3. You Have Time
We are about 1 month away from Christmas, so plan strategically. If there are a few days that you are
"Closed" or are deciding to be "Off" that's great! Before that period of time, you have a few weeks to take care of entrepreneurial tasks. Remember the year you did all of your Christmas Shopping last minute? It wasn't ideal but you made it happen, so stop worrying!
4. Schedule Family Time
Being an entrepreneur is a continuous cycle of balancing your family life and business life. You need to also stay committed to family time. If you have allotted certain times and days for holiday activities, turn off your business for a few hours. Ignore emails, calls or messages during these times. You will never regret cherishing these moments with loved ones!
5. Enjoy Yourself
Being an entrepreneur can be fun during the holidays! Make your business festive or offer holiday specials. If you are having fun with your business, you won't be as distracted. Play with your creativity and allow yourself to weave the holiday joy into your marketing and events. The holidays can be stressful, but only if you let it be. Happiness is contagious so make sure you are engaging in opportunities that bring you those feelings.
I hope you enjoyed today's topic. We all get distracted during busy times, but it is important to stay organized, relax and have fun as an entrepreneur during the holiday season!
