How to Get Started
The number one question I get about being an entrepreneur is " How Did You Get Started?"
Have you thought about starting your own side hustle, blog or hobby? What has been holding you back? Are you worried no one will read it or be interested in your product? Or are you just not sure where to begin? We all go through many emotions before we actually "start " a project. Many people never start because it is all just too overwhelming or our fear overpowers our will to take a risk and try.
Here's a few tips to take you from inspiration to action!
1. Brainstorm
Get all of your ideas out of your head! Write about what you are passionate about, what you enjoy, what you want to communicate to others and the experiences that have inspired you. Do you want to do something as hobby or make an income? What ideas do you have and how passionate are you about making your dreams a reality?
2. Resources
Do you have the resources to get started? Are they readily available to you? What will the cost or time commitment be? Do you need help from other services to get started? What documentation is needed or licenses will you need? Start with a simple Google search and start exploring options.
3. Reach Out
Talk to other people with similar business or creative projects that interest you. Ask them how they got started, what platforms they use or how they built their website or blog. Hearing other people's experience can give you an idea of what the process will actually entail.
4. Market Research
If you are thinking or providing a service or product, do some research. Is there a need for what you have to offer in your area? Will you be online or in person? Who could benefit from your product or service? Do you have an original name or idea? What makes what you have novel or unique?
5. Timeline
When can you realistic start? Today? Tomorrow? In a few weeks? Set some time-based goals and plan ahead. Map out how much time actually launching a product or website would take. Will you be committed to this in a few months?
Apart from these tips, talk to your partner, spouse or family members about your ideas and how you would like them to support you in your entrepreneurial journey. Being an entrepreneur can present some tough challenges and having a good support system can make a big difference!
We may never feel "completely ready"to take the leap, but that's part of being an entrepreneur! Enjoy the journey and all of the excitement and lessons it has to offer.
