Give Yourself a Break
Scrolling through Instagram like..
"How do those crazy fit moms do it?"
"Why don't I make time for awesome trips with my girlfriends?"
"Why don't I look like those other fitness entrepreneurs with perfect hair and make-up everyday?"
"I gotta step it up, but I don't know where I will find the time or energy!"
My days are planned and scheduled almost to the hour during the week and extra things always come up! Some days it seems impossible to get everything done and meet my goals. Those are the days I feel like I have let myself down and that there's something WRONG with me or what I'm doing. I begin comparing myself to others (which is NOT healthy), questioning if I am cut out to be an entrepreneur and start to believe what I'm attempting is impossible. Now on good days I believe the COMPLETE OPPOSITE soooo how do I get over these days?!
In these times, I have to convince myself that I need a break. I need to do something that is not "productive" or work. I promise my time to others because I'm naturally a people pleaser which can be both a positive and negative trait, so during these tough days I need to learn to say NO. I need to get Really Honest with myself and admit when I have committed to too much! We all need time for ourselves and I don't mean alone time that is spent at the gym or working on our businesses, I mean REAL RELAXING and RECHARGING time. And not " I don't want to adult today" and ditch ALL of your commitments or responsibilities. For me, this time means taking a few hours to go to Chapters and finding a great book or getting out of the city to explore little shops or a beach. We all need that time where we can "escape" to a blissful place. Ideally this would be taking a VACATION and flying away for an entire week if possible!
Now it is tough these days to not compare yourself to others or work until you burn out completely.
Social media tells us we should be able to love our jobs, wear great clothes, have perfect hair and make-up everyday, prep beautiful smoothie bowls and look like a fitness model while doing it all! This is unrealistic and we have to stop setting these expectations for ourselves as women. If you work hard at your business or career, stay healthy and make it to the gym a few times a week and make one day a week for family or friends, you are killing it! It feels amazing to have a great hair day or get your lashes done, don't get me wrong. Feeling good about your appearance can help your confidence and practicing self-care is important, but don't let those expectations stress you out. Looking perfect while trying to fit everything else important in your life in is a challenge! That leads to my next point...
If you are constantly feeling like you are not good enough, not beautiful enough or constantly criticizing your body and lifestyle, even though deep down you are doing the BEST YOU CAN, it is time to take a BREAK from Social Media. I know it can be hard to do this, but you will start to focus more on what you love about your own life than what others are doing when you unplug for a few days.
That's all I have for you today. I am going to take my own advice this weekend and "escape" a little. Have a wonderful long weekend friends!
